Since then, we have seen WhatsApp banning millions of accounts in India for various nefarious activities like fraud and harassment. WhatsApp, according to its latest monthly user security report, has banned over 1.8 million accounts in India throughout the month of March this year. This comes after the social messaging giant banned over 1.4 million accounts in February 2022.

The Meta-Owned Company has taken strict action against accounts that do not follow its policies and guidelines. WhatsApp reportedly received 597 complaint reports from its users in April 2022. Out of them, the company banned 74 of the reported accounts in March.

"In accordance with the IT Regulations 2021, we have published our report for the month of March 2022. This user security report contains information about user complaints received and the corresponding actions taken by WhatsApp, as well as WhatsApp's own preventive measures to combat abuses on our platform. As caught in the latest monthly report, WhatsApp banned over 1.8 million accounts in the month of March,” a WhatsApp spokesperson said in a statement.
