WhatsApp's new feature "Protect IP Address in Calls" will route the calls through WhatsApp servers and hide your IP address from others in the conversation. Meta says that "this new feature provides an extra layer of privacy and security specifically aimed at our most privacy-conscious users."
Conversations on WhatsApp will also be end-to-end encrypted, which means that even WhatsApp will not be able to listen to the conversations you have with others. The feature is similar to how iOS can hide your IP address that was introduced with iOS 15. This can be enabled through the Safari settings. You will get the option to hide your IP address by going to the Privacy Settings on the app and selecting the Advanced option. You can choose to enable or disable the "Preserve IP address in calls" option. One thing to note here is that enabling this setting comes with a downside and call quality will decrease.
