Running Times for Boys A 12-year-old boy who can complete a 1-mile run in eight minutes and 40 seconds sits at about the 50th percentile in comparison to other boys his age. Any time faster than 8:40 would be considered a good time, since it puts the boy in the top half of his age class.

Age 13: 16–17 seconds.

For most boys in their middle teen years the average 100m time will usually often be somewhere between a high of 14.4seconds with a low of 12.3seconds. But that’s only the 60% of boy’s times in we get the world; the other 36% can get it around between 11.8 and all the way down to perhaps 10.9sec.

A non-elite athlete can run 100m in 13-14 seconds or at 15.9mph. However, Olympic qualifying times are much lower. The men’s qualifying time for London 2012 was 10.18 seconds and the women’s was 11.29 seconds. About 100 years ago, the time of 10.6 seconds in the men’s 100m event would have earned a gold medal.

Of course it is at that speed your ground contact times are fast, and you have a decent amount power output and more. So relative to the average speed of people 11 seconds beats the average easily.

So if you run a 100 meter dash in 12 seconds then (100/12)*2.237 = about 18.64 miles per hour.

16 to 17 seconds

16 to 17 seconds. Most non athletic healthy active kids and young adults will be able to run 100M in 16 to 17 seconds without any training. With a little bit of regular training they might be able to clear in 15 sec.

But 17 seconds is a bad time to record 100m for a guy whose weight is normal according to his height and age. for a normal guy clocking 12 to 14 second is good unless he is not a professional runner. The average 14 year old girl can run the 100m sprints in 13-14 seconds.

It doesn’t require tremendous speed to run a single 200m in 27 seconds – I would have done 8 to 10 in about 27–28 seconds (although with a running start) with about 2 minutes rest, and that was as a middle-distance runner and 3000m (just under 2 miles) steeplechaser.

Spikes might take about half a second to a second off but it still isn’t fast enough to get you anywhere, if you are a boy of course. If you are a girl then a 28–27 will do you very good,as long as you continue improving. Last season though, I was a sophmore and I ran a 22.5 in the 200.

A decent D1 200m time is is sub 22 and a great D1 time is sub 21. You might be looking at 200m times on indoor 200m track with no bank. If you are looking for scholarships you can call or email track coaches about your interest. They will also tell you what it takes to earn scholarship.
