The pocket-sized dolls originated at the end of the 1980s and became seriously popular amongst kids growing up in the 90s. They were initially designed by Chris Wiggs in 1983 for his daughter, and he used a powder compact to house the dolls at the start.

While they may be miniature, those toys can now fetch big bucks online. Not every old Polly Pocket toy is valuable, but certain sets can sell for hundreds of dollars on eBay and other sites. For instance, this birthday-themed set recently sold on eBay for $299.

By 2015, Polly Pocket was completely discontinued by Mattel. On February 12, 2018, Garrett Sander announced on his Instagram page that Polly Pocket would be making a comeback. The new toys are miniature dolls in playsets, like the original 1990s Polly Pocket, rather than the larger Fashion Polly.
