Diamonds are present in about 35 countries. South Africa, Russia and Botswana are the main producers of gem diamond while Australia produces most of the industrial diamond. They are also found in India, Russia, Siberia, Brazil, China, Canada and the United States.

Diamond is thought to form 150 km to 200 km below the Earth’s surface, where high temperatures (1050°C – 1200°C) and pressures (45 kilobars – 55 kilobars) allow it to crystallise. The diamonds may then be picked up by hot molten rock (magma) and transported upwards as the magma intrudes up into the Earth’s crust.

The chances of finding a diamond are 1 in 10,000,000. The chances of finding a diamond over 8 mm, in excess of 2 grams in weight are 1 in 1,000,000,000. That is one chance in a billion!

Rough diamonds usually resemble lumps of pale colored glass. They often have an oily appearance and don’t sparkle. Very few rough diamonds are actually gem quality. Only those with the very palest colors, or are colorless will pass the test.

71.25 times the explosive power of TNT would be required to destroy a block of obsidian; however, additional TNT increases the blast radius, not explosive power.

Obsidian is a dark purple and black block, known for its high blast resistance (meaning it can only blow up by Withers, or if 562 blocks of TNT is surrounding the obsidian).

Even though the wither can sometimes break obsidian, it can do so only with its blue skull and by dashing. The common black skulls cannot break obsidian, so it is the best block to use.
