Replacing Your Card If you lose your Uniformed Services ID Card, you should go to the nearest Real-Time Automated Personnel Identification System (RAPIDS) site and obtain your new card. You can use the RAPIDS Site Locator to find your nearest RAPIDS site.

If you lose your ID you can apply for a new one at a RAPIDS site or through the ID Card Office Online. Service members should also report missing CACs to their chain of command. To renew, change or replace your ID card, your profile in DEERS will need to be up to date.

Save time by making an online appointment. Visit the Appointment Scheduler at https://rapids-appointments.dmdc.osd.mil. Remember to bring 2 forms of government issued Identification. If you need to locate your nearest Identification office, use the DEERS/RAPIDS Site Locator at /www.dmdc.osd.mil/rsl/.

If you need to enter a base and do not have a DoD I.D., or do not have an escort, you will need to visit the base’s visitor center. Visitor centers are usually located near the main gate. If you are a non-military caregiver you can get on base accompanied by a child in possession of a valid military identification.

To do this, you insert the smart card, press Ctrl+Alt+Delete to display the Windows Security screen, and then select the Change a password option. You select the Unblock smart card check box, and then you set a new PIN code to unblock the smart card.

You will have to visit an ID card office (RAPIDS (Real-time Automated Personal IDentification System)) to get your card unblocked, updated, or replaced. The CAC owner has to be present along with a second photo ID.

Since the NACI process can take up to 18 months, you may be issued a CAC before the process is completed and after a favorable fingerprint return.

Go to DEERS and get a pin reset. Edit: If the error is you’re LOCKED talk to your S6. If it says BLOCKED proceed to DEERS. It’s says blocked.

The NACI process can actually take up to 18 months, but your card may be issued before this as long as your fingerprint check comes back fine. Two original forms of ID like a passport and social security card.

Smart Card is BLOCKED – this means you have entered your PIN (Personal Identification Number) incorrectly 3 times. The RAPIDS site VO (Verifying Official) will verify your identity using your finger print and help you reset your PIN.

What if my CAC card is lost or stolen? If your CAC is lost or stolen, report the loss to your sponsoring command or local security office. You will need to provide documentation of this report to your RAPIDS office to receive a new CAC card.

Currently, there is no capability to reset your PIN remotely. If your CAC expires and you are eligible for a new CAC, you should go to the nearest RAPIDS site and obtain your new CAC. For your convenience, CACs can be brought in for renewal up to 90 days in advance of the expiration date.

They cost approximately $132 each, and are paid for by individual workers themselves or sometimes their labor unions.

At least one form of ID must be a valid State or Federal government-issued picture identification (for example, passport, driver’s license, or current DoD ID card). (4) Signed using a general Power of Attorney. A wet or digital signature is acceptable. While at a RAPIDS Site, expect to have your picture taken.

Visual identification Some states allow the CAC to be used as a government-issued ID card, such as for voting or applying for a drivers license.

A CAC is the Department of Defense Personal Identity Verification (PIV) card required under Homeland Security Presidential Directive (HSPD) 12. Conversely, if you have a security clearance, you can almost guarantee the need for a CAC (or your agency’s equivalent).
