Q. Can I get on base without my CAC card?
If you need to enter a base and do not have a DoD I.D., or do not have an escort, you will need to visit the base’s visitor center. Visitor centers are usually located near the main gate. If you are a non-military caregiver you can get on base accompanied by a child in possession of a valid military identification.
Q. How do you unblock a CAC card?
To do this, you insert the smart card, press Ctrl+Alt+Delete to display the Windows Security screen, and then select the Change a password option. You select the Unblock smart card check box, and then you set a new PIN code to unblock the smart card.

Smart Card is BLOCKED – this means you have entered your PIN (Personal Identification Number) incorrectly 3 times. The RAPIDS site VO (Verifying Official) will verify your identity using your finger print and help you reset your PIN.
