The Beast’s Castle is the primary location of Disney’s 1991 film, Beauty and the Beast. Initially, it is the home of the Beast and his several servants, including Lumiere, Cogsworth, Mrs.

The crew built some amazingly intricate sets at Shepperton Studios, the biggest of which was the beautiful ballroom at the Beast’s castle – which incorporated 12,000 square feet of marble flooring and ten chandeliers – and Belle’s village Villeneuve which was constructed on the studio’s backlot and spanned almost 30,000 square feet.

You can’t stay at the castle, but the hotel Relais de Chambord overlooks the castle and the grounds, with prices from £127 per night. It isn’t the only French location that inspired the films. The hometown of Belle, Villeneuve, was based on the small town of Conques in southern France.
