It extends 94 miles (151 km) inland, is 32 miles (52 km) wide at its entrance, and is noted for its fast-running tides, which may produce rises as great as 70 feet (21 m), the highest in the world.

The 1917, the Halifax Explosion shelved plans to turn Africville into an industrial zone. The disaster levelled much of Halifax’s North End and damaged Africville. A global relief effort brought in millions of dollars in donations to rebuild the city, but none of the money went to rebuilding Africville.

The specific size of the bay helps create the world’s most extreme tides. Water levels rise and fall by as much as 48 feet every day when 100 billion tons of seawater crash into the shore. Low tide reveals boulders carved into dramatic shapes by centuries of water at the Hopewell Rocks.

Salmon caught in Alaska (chinook/king, chum, coho, pink, sockeye) are among the better-managed fish stocks in the U.S. They are also low in contaminants. Most Alaskan salmon populations are healthy, and fish are caught with gear that does little damage to the environment.

Scottish Salmon is a premium farmed Atlantic salmon that is sustainably raised off the coast of Scotland. Scottish Salmon is one of the more mild flavored salmon on the market. The higher-fat content of these fish lend to a buttery texture mouth-feel. The fish’s feed is parasite-free making it safe for raw consumption.

Historically, wild Atlantic Salmon were found in 32 to 42 rivers in this area, but this has been reduced to only a small number of rivers in recent years. IBoF Salmon, like all Atlantic Salmon, require a variety of freshwater, estuarine and marine habitats to complete its life cycle.
