Never fear, there are actual, official maps of Westeros and Essos, and we’ve marked where all the major locations of Game of Thrones actually are. The Free City is where Arya wound up after fleeing Westeros, and where she learned the ways of Jaqen H’ghar and the Faceless Men.

• The Crownlands – House Targaryen.

The world of Game of Thrones includes three continents: Westeros, Essos and Sothoryos (and maybe a fourth, known as Ulthos), but everything beyond Westeros and the handful of cities the show’s visited along the coasts of Essos is cloaked in mystery.

The real-life Winterfell is at Castle Ward in County Down, Northern Ireland. Aside from hosting “Game of Thrones” tours, it’s a beautiful National Trust property on the shores of Strangford Lough, with an 18th-century stately home and acres of landscaped gardens to explore.

The total population of Westeros is probably between 25 and 50 million people.

Northern England is a combination of Yorkshire and Northumberland. With York being Winterfell. It’s not based on anything in the real world, just roughly inspired by it.

After murdering his father, Ramsay Bolton held onto Winterfell until his defeat at the Battle of the Bastards, at which point the castle was returned to House Stark’s ownership, with Sansa Stark being named the Lady of Winterfell.

This one is something more different than most of my Star Wars projects, but I wanted to start making maps with other themes.. So this time I’m showing you Winterfell, the castle and home of the Starks in Game of Thrones. I built the castle in it’s later form, after it was rebuilt by the Boltons around Season 5 of the TV series.
