Court of Miracles is a place and one of the locations of Disney’s 1996 animated feature, The Hunchback of Notre Dame. It is located under the city of Paris in the old catacombs (the secret entrance being found in a graveyard), where the gypsies hide out from the authorities.

While hating Esmeralda for being a gypsy and humiliating and evading him, Frollo had a powerful feeling of lust for her, so powerful he was desperate to find her and have her to himself, even if that meant burning Paris to the ground.

By the time they came back to their homes in the slum, they dropped their characters. A beggar who had pretended to be blind or crippled the whole day could see or walk again once back in the slum. This phenomenon gave the generic name to these areas where so many “miracles” occurred every day: courts of miracles.

Judge Claude Frollo, also simply known as Frollo, is the main antagonist of Disney’s thirty-fourth full-length animated feature film The Hunchback of Notre Dame, being based on the 1831 French novel of the same name by the late Victor Hugo.

A (possibly) great note is that romance is extremely understated in this novel which is unique in popular YA fantasy these days. This allows the events and tensions of the plot as well as minor characters (and their relationships to Nina and the other major characters) to shine through.

He is even caring towards his foster son until Esmeralda comes on, leading Frollo’s lust and obsession over her to begin his slow descent into villainy. Thus, Frollo is Pure Evil in the animated film, but nowhere near it in the original novel.
