Grading system initially helped students in scoring well, but when marking system started it was considered the best for students. The grading system is better than the marking system. Securing good grades make children feel better and it motivates them. Grading system should be encouraged.

The letter grade system lets students know how they’re doing, if they can see how they’re doing they can know what they need to do better and work on improving. Overall, the letter grading system is more beneficial to the student and the instructor.

Grades make it easy for students to understand where they stand in a class or on a particular subject. A bad grade on a test gives students a clear idea about their weaknesses and what areas need improvement. Conversely, a string of good grades demonstrates where they excel.

This is the most used grading system; however, there are some schools that use an edited version of the college system, which means 89.95, or above becomes an A average….Grade conversion.

Advantages and Disadvantages of Grading System in Education:

Limited: The grading system may not accurately reflect what a student is learning. There’s no explanation for what got a student to the grade they achieved. Some may be learning more than others, but not able to apply their knowledge well to the task at hand.

Grades, including evaluations by teachers, standardized test scores, and exam results, can affect student behavior for at least three reasons. First, grades give students feedback on how well they master a subject, and students may increase their effort if they do not understand the material as well as they thought.

The two most common types of grading systems used at the university level are norm-referenced and criterion-referenced.

There are 4 grading methods: Learning objects – The number of completed/passed learning objects. Highest grade – The highest score obtained in all passed learning objects. Average grade – The mean of all the scores.

Direct Grading • Performance is assessed in qualitative terms. • Evaluator gives the most appropriate letter grade to each subject like A, B, C, D, E without assigning scores.

CBSE Class 10 & Class 12 Evaluation

The 80 marks “should be in consonance with the past performance of the school in Class X board examinations,” the CBSE stated. Of these, five teachers should be from the school and from subjects like mathematics, social science and two languages; and two members should be from outside the school.

For CBSE or ICSE educational board : If a student gets 80% or more than 80% marks in intermediate exams then student is passed with first Division with Honours. If student gets below 80 but above 60% then he or she is first division. If student gets below 60% but above 45% then it is said to be second division.
