Monsieur De Boville He is the Director of Prisons, from whom Dantès buys financial notes which are invested in Monsieur Morrel’s shipping firm. Dantès is also able to secretly extract Villefort’s note condemning him to what Villefort believed would be a life of isolated imprisonment.

Bertuccio is the Count’s right-hand man. As Haydée has the goods on Fernand, so Bertuccio has the dirt on Villefort and Caderousse. Without him, Benedetto would not have survived, and without Benedetto Monte Cristo wouldn’t have been able to put Villefort out of action.

All of the circumstantial evidence points to Valentine as the culprit in the deaths of these three old people. The doctor believes that the poison was intended for Villefort’s father so that Valentine could inherit all of her maternal and paternal grandparents’ monies.

While leaving Rome, he is kidnapped by the Count’s agent Luigi Vampa and is imprisoned. Forced to pay exorbitant prices for food and nearly starved to death, Danglars signs away his ill-gotten gains.

How did Edmond get revenge on Cadderousse? Dantes gave caderousse a diamond and when an appraiser came and gave him money for it he killed the appraiser while he was sleeping and took both the diamond and the money. He got caught and sentenced to hard labor in jail.

But the most interesting thing about it is that Dantes ends up with Mercedes in the end. Haydee is left out entirely and Albert turns out to be the son of Dantes, conceived before he was imprisoned. And at the end, it just felt even more wrong that Mercedes ends up broken, weeping, and completely alone.
