Contrary to popular understanding, Hindus recognise one God, Brahman, the eternal origin who is the cause and foundation of all existence. The gods of the Hindu faith represent different expressions of Brahman.

Shiva is the supreme god who creates and destroy every universe, and the other hand Vishnu(I am taking about mahavishnu as he is the strongest form of Vishnu) is a deity , who has many limitations, but shiva don’t have any limitations, Shiva’s power and knowledge is infinite where as Vishnu’s power is limited and …

Lord Brahma is called the Creator of the Land while Lord Vishnu is the one who drives the creation (Preservers) and Lord Shiva is the Destroyer and Transformer of the Creation. Taking all the above points into consideration, i don’t see at least a point where Shiva and Vishnu would fight.

The nineteen avatars of Lord Shiva

• Piplaad Avatar. This avatar of Lord Shiva was born to Sage Dadhichi and his wife, Swarcha.
• Nandi Avatar. This form of Lord Shiva was born to Sage Shilada.
• Veerabhadra Avatar.
• Bhairava Avatar.
• Ashwatthama Avatar.
• Sharabha avatar.
• Grihapati avatar.
• Durvasa avatar.

The literal translation of this mantra is “I bow down to Lord Shiva”. Powerful Rudra mantra. “Om Namo Bhagavate Rudraya” Meaning: This is one of the most powerful and simplest Rudra mantras used widely for holy chants, worship and meditation.

Among the many forms, 25 are considered the most important. They fall into one of three categories — Bhoga, Yoga and Vira. Everything in the world owes its existence and continuity to the Lord. All living forms take their sustenance from Him.

Devotees should visit Shiva temple on every Monday with a clean mind and body and should prayers. After taking a bath, one should offer milk and honey to Lord Shiva. It is believed that doing this, the problems related to livelihood, job or business gets eliminated.

Dhatura Fruit Dhatura, which is generally considered to be a poisonous fruit, is an extremely favourite item of Lord Shiva.

On this day, devotees take early bath, wear the auspicious green coloured clothes and visit the nearest Shiv temple to offer prayers to the Shiva Linga. If you can’t wear on green, you also have the option to wear red, white, yellow, orange on this day.

Many know that Shiva’s favourite plant is Bael, and also likes bhaang, dhatura, milk, sandal, and ash.

No doubt, Bhaang is the favourite food of Lord Shiva. The drink is made from crushed hemp leaves. It is also said that the drink helps to cure many ailments and get rid of all sorts of pain. Milk or any sweet made with milk is offered on Shivratri.

Although one can offer coconuts to Lord Shiva, you cannot worship Shivling with coconut water. It might sound strange but the reason is everything offered to the lord is considered as nirmalaya and are forbidden from being consumed.

To soothe his throat, ingredients like honey, milk and curd are offered on the shivling. There is also a reason why people stay awake on Shivratri. After Lord Shiva drank the venom, gods were advised to keep him awake during the night.

Shiva lingas can be worshiped at home, but the general rule is, it should not be bigger than your thumb according to the scriptures. For worship at home, any idol should not be bigger than the thumb.
