Augustus Caesar

In 312 Constantine fought and won the battle of the Milvian bridge, just outside Rome, and so established himself as the Augustus in the west. By 324 he had defeated the Augustus of the east and made himself the sole emperor of the Roman world.

The Visigoths were settled agriculturists in Dacia (now in Romania) when they were attacked by the Huns in 376 and driven southward across the Danube River into the Roman Empire.

Invasions by Barbarian tribes The most straightforward theory for Western Rome’s collapse pins the fall on a string of military losses sustained against outside forces. Rome had tangled with Germanic tribes for centuries, but by the 300s “barbarian” groups like the Goths had encroached beyond the Empire’s borders.

No other empire and culture deserves the title “Greatest Civilization in World’s History” more than that of Ancient Rome. That’s over 2,200 years of history! The Roman Empire itself also holds the Guinness World Record as “the Longest Lasting Empire in History”, listed on their website as around 1,500 years.
