The Library Company was officially founded on July 1st, 1731 when Benjamin Franklin and Junto Club members signed the articles of agreement to subscription. Franklin’s goal was to benefit the common people who otherwise would not have access to books.

The first public library in the U.S. is contested, but there are three generally accepted answers. The first is the Library Company of Philadelphia which was founded in November 1731 by Benjamin Franklin. It was a subscription library and supported by members.

Most large size two-dollar bills issued from 1862 through 1918, are highly collectible and are worth at least $100 in well-circulated condition. Uncirculated large size notes are worth at least $500 and can go up to $10,000 or more.

Are $2 Dollar Bills Still Being Printed? Yes! It’s a common misconception that $2 bills are no longer being printed. They were previously printed from 1862-1966, in different designs.

Most $500 notes in circulation today are in the hands of dealers and collectors. Although no longer in circulation, the $500 bill remains legal tender.

The $2 bill has not been removed from circulation and is still a circulating denomination of United States paper currency. The Federal Reserve System does not, however, request the printing of that denomination as often as the others.

$2 bills are still being printed every year, and you can go into any bank and ask for them just like any other denomination. So you shouldn’t treat a $2 bill like a collector’s item: it’s worth exactly two dollars and will always be worth that much (unless they have printing errors, and preferably are uncirculated.)

Most 1995 series two dollar star notes are worth around $45 each in uncirculated condition with an MS 63 grade. Notes from the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta are less valuable and they each sell for around $15 in uncirculated condition with an MS 63 grade.

The common variety 1976 $2 star notes are worth around $8 in fine condition. In uncirculated condition the price is around $20-25 for bills with an MS 63 grade. The rare variety star notes can sell for around $80 in fine condition and around $150 in uncirculated condition with a grade of MS 63.

Value of the $2 Bill $2, though the $2 bill is the rarest U.S. currency. Bills newer than 1963 have little or no collector value. The bicentennial bills, however, are the collector bills you see today, and the most anyone has paid at auction is $50,000—that’s a lot of $2 bills!

Most 2003 series $2 bills were issued from the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis and they are each worth around $5 in uncirculated condition with an MS 63 grade. Bills issued from the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis are more valuable. They are each valued at around $35 in uncirculated condition with an MS 63 grade.

They are all common in both circulated and uncirculated condition. Value: Two dollar bank notes from 1953 (all series) sell for about $8 in perfect condition and around $3 in circulated condition. Even star notes are rarely worth more than $10.
