Competition for power and resources has continued to divide these regions. The economy also played a big role. Political, Economic, and Social problems are some of the root causes of the Somali civil war. Somalia is a county who has known war after war and famine after famine.

President George H.W. Bush authorized the dispatch of U.S. troops to Somalia to assist with famine relief as part of the larger United Nations effort. Aideed’s forces shot down two Black Hawk helicopters in a battle which lead to the deaths of 18 U.S. soldiers and hundreds of Somalis.

In October 1993, elite American troops launched a disastrous raid in the Somali capital Mogadishu. Some 18 Americans and two UN soldiers were killed. At the time, the United States was leading a UN mission to end the civil war and famine in Somalia. Within six months, the US had withdrawn its forces from Somalia.

American soldiers went to Somalia on a mission to feed and give supplies for the African people. However, during this mission, they were surprised when they got attacked by armed Africans. The American people reacted when this had happened they asked their President for the soldiers to get home.

The U.S. personnel trained and supported Somali forces, including its elite special forces, in counter-terror operations. They are being moved to other African countries such as neighboring Kenya and Djibouti, home of the only permanent U.S. military base in Africa, but U.S. Africa Command spokesman Col.

Transitional Federal Government takes control over Mogadishu, Merca, Baidoa, Hudur, and Jowhar. Merger and split between/of Hizbul Islam and Al-Shabaab forces.

The Somali casualties were reported in The Washington Post as 312 killed and 814 wounded. The Pentagon initially reported five American soldiers were killed, but the toll was actually 18 American soldiers dead and 73 wounded.

The Somali Police Force (SPF; Somali: Ciidanka Booliska Soomaaliya (CBS); Arabic: قوة الشرطة الصومالية‎) is the national police force and the main civil law enforcement agency of Somalia.

The institutional and technical capacity of Somalia’s three police forces has been strengthened. Approximately 12,000-officers have received basic police training (5,000 in Somaliland, 1,500 in Puntland and 5,300 in South Central Somalia).

Somalia has experienced armed conflict for nearly three decades. In recent years, non-state armed groups have carried out bombings, suicide attacks, armed assaults and kidnappings. At the same time, military operations have resulted in the sporadic death, injury and displacement of civilian populations.

Alcohol in Somalia is prohibited by the country’s strict Muslim culture, but historically was allowed in the country and continues to exist illicitly.

The only major venomous spider possibly found in Alaska is the hobo spider, Tegenaria agrestis, which was introduced from Europe to the Pacific Northwest in the 1930s. Males are more venomous than females (3).

Although neither of these medically significant spiders is likely to become established in Alaska, it appears that black widows, at least, make it up here occasionally. In 2002, an article in the Juneau Empire reported a black widow in Juneau that was found by airport workers handling imported siding.
