The main reason students do not complete homework is a lack of confidence that they will get it right – however, this is not what they will tell their teachers when they fail to hand in their work on time. Least likely to complete their homework on time (67 per cent).

The load of homework is enough for the students according to their level. So, these students are not able to get their time according to their need. Â Each one gets a lot of homework, and to some extent it is good as it captures some time, but if it is overloaded, then each one think it as boring.

As well it can make you feel angry, distressed, and afraid that you’ll experience shame if it isn’t done well.

Finnish students have some other great perks, along with not having to do homework. In US public schools there are many standardized tests, where in Finland they have almost none. Finland has 12 students to each teacher; in the US it is double.

Homework can affect both students’ physical and mental health. According to a study by Stanford University, 56 per cent of students considered homework a primary source of stress. Too much homework can result in lack of sleep, headaches, exhaustion and weight loss.

Firstly, I believe homework should be banned because doing it just adds stress to students. Sometimes when students do homework it adds unnecessary stress to students, and then this can distract students from access to leisure time and community activities that also teach important life skills.

Homework teaches students to work independently and develop self-discipline. Homework encourages students to take initiative and responsibility for completing a task. Homework allows parents to have an active role in their child’s education and helps them to evaluate their child’s progress.
