There is certainly something different about Andrew Garfield's portrayal of Peter Parker/Spider-Man in The Amazing Spider-Man. Many criticized him as being too cool to be the resident science geek because he showed an interest in skateboarding, and the actor had such a rugged look about him that you wouldn't even think he ever gets bullied.
Now, with three versions of the same character, it's not easy to choose which one accurately portrayed the Marvel hero as he was brought to the big screen with an amalgamation of personalities, quirks and the like that are true to the actor. Garfield, in this case, made his own choice to incorporate some traits that were not present in Tom Holland's or Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man.
A post from a Marvel fan site on YouTube revealed that Andrew Garfield's distinctive style of swinging in The Amazing Spider-Man was created by his love of skateboarding. Eagle-eyed fans would surely notice that he did quite a few tricks as he jumped from one building to another, instead of just swinging to reach his destination.
