Hospitality, the friendly and generous reception and entertainment of guests, visitors, or strangers, is very important to the gods and goddesses. It is just as important for the guest to honor the host as it is for the host to honor the guest.

The true exemplars of good hospitality in The Odyssey are the Phaeacians who host Odysseus when he washes ashore near their town. After Odysseus reveals his identity and tells his story, the Phaeacians convey him to Ithaca and leave him on the shore with numerous precious gifts, the ultimate hospitable act.

If we were to take a positive read of Odysseus, I would say that he learns the value of family. Odysseus understands that the ending of the Trojan War means he is to go back home to his family. His trials and tribulations to that end prove his loyalty to his family.

After reading all the stories throughout the Odyssey I learned that important lesson. That important lesson is that you should never give up on someone or something that’s important to you. You should keep on pushing to achieve a goal that you set for yourself even if people or things stand in your way.

The moral values in the story include loyalty, compassion, self-control and perseverance. Each one has a tale or two associated with it. Loyalty is an important moral value in The Odyssey because Odysseus is devoted to his family. He is determined to return home to his wife despite all of the obstacles in his way.

The Iliad, the story of the Trojan War, offers several moral lessons to its readers, including the importance of leaders treating their soldiers with respect, the importance of accepting apologies, and the need for respecting family bonds.

In The Odyssey by Homer, Odysseus’ journey represents life, the ups and downs of it. Hard work and perseverance through the hard times brought him to his desired place, his home in Ithaka. The sea is unpredictable, as is life. As Odysseus sailed, the sea brought him many things to face and get past.

An example of a metaphor in the Odyssey, is when Homer writes, “Nine years we wove a web of disaster.” Another example is when Homer says: “[Odysseus is] fated to escape his noose of pain”.

The bed is a permanent piece of furniture, representing the stability of the marriage between Odysseus and Penelope. Like a tree, solid and long-lasting, Odysseus and Penelope refuse to uproot themselves and join with another partner to create a new family.

Odysseus is considered an epic hero for his role as King of Ithaca, his participation in the war, and his journey home. A hero has some type of superhuman ability, such as intelligence, physical strength, or bravery: Odysseus was known for his ability to think himself out of tough situations.

Known for his leadership skills, wit, and intelligence, Odysseus is most famous for his ten-year journey had after the Trojan War. Odysseus’ journey is told in the story “The Odyssey,” a classic story written by the ancient Greek bard Homer.

What major mistake does Odysseus make? He tells Polyphemus his real name. With that information, Polyphemus is able to pray to Poseidon for vengeance.

Why did the Cyclopes have only one eye? According to legend, the Cyclopes had only one eye after making a deal with Hades, god of the underworld, in which they traded one eye for the ability to see the future and predict the day they would die.

Cyclops. The Cyclops, named Polyphemus, traps Odysseus and some of his crew in his cave. The Cyclops, because he has only one eye, represents people who see through only one perspective.

Annabeth has a strong dislike for Tyson because she had a traumatic event regarding a cyclops when she was younger. She was on her way to Camp Half-Blood along with Thalia and Luke, who were guided by the satyr Grover. On the way, they got lost. The four were almost at Camp Half-Blood when they encountered a cyclops.

The Cyclops were giant; one-eyed monsters; a wild race of lawless creatures who possess neither social manners nor fear of the Gods. Cyclopes means ’round eye. ‘ Considered the sons of Uranus and Gaea they were the workmen of the God Hephaestus whose workshop was in the heart of the volcanic mountain Etna.

The Cyclops creatures were lawless, without culture, and ate humans when available. On finding a large cave, Odysseus and his men entered the cave, where they helped themselves to the food and drink they found there, and fell asleep.
