Nvidia is embroiled in an antitrust-n'patent lawsuit, which claims the GPU giant colluded with Microsoft and intellectual property risk management firm RPX to rip off data processing unit (DPU) developer Xockets.

The case [6:24-cv-453], filed in the Western Federal District of Texas – a haven for patent litigation in America – accuses the trio of violating federal antitrust laws, engaging in monopolistic behavior to avoid paying Xockets what it has right to, and knowingly infringes its patents.

In addition to monetary damages, Xockets is also seeking an injunction that, if granted, would prohibit the launch of Nvidia's upcoming Blackwell platform.

The intellectual property in question refers to a series of patents for DPU technologies filed by Xocket founder Parin Dalal beginning in 2012. At a high level, they describe architectures for "offloading, accelerating and isolating data-intensive computing operations from server processors" at line speeds.
