While Intel suggests that application developers will soon infuse all software with AI, and computers must be ready for them, the workload that currently matters most is inference to drive large language models.

Any AI computer worth its name must therefore perform inference quickly and well.

Inferencing is the process of converting a given prompt into its answer. Doing so requires a machine that can grind through several gigabytes of data – and even more matrix multiplications.
