YouTube will now add a watermark to shared shorts

The equivalent of YouTube's TikTok and Instagram Reels, Shorts has now received a new feature, which will result in the addition of a watermark when short-form videos are downloaded. This will be another way for the video platform to promote Shorts.

GUESS HOW LONG THIS TOOK ME😫

Whenever a creator downloads a Shorts video from YouTube Studio primarily for the purpose of sharing it on other platforms, the video will now be watermarked. YouTube says this will help others "see that the content you share across platforms can be found on YouTube Shorts."

This change could help YouTube bring more people (even those who still don't like YouTube Shorts) to Shorts and thus help it grow its user base.

The feature will be rolled out in the coming weeks and will add a watermark to YouTube Shorts downloaded on desktop. It is confirmed to reach mobile users but this will happen in the coming weeks.
