YouTube has been cracking down on ad blockers in recent years. From shutting down the Vanced app in 2022 to blocking video playback for users using an ad blocker. Meanwhile, they're also putting more ads into videos, forcing users to buy their "Premium" paid subscription, and making sure that's the only way users can watch videos without ads.

Youtube blocks ad blockers, you need to do this now

In its latest attempt, YouTube seems to skip videos right to the end if you have an ad blocker installed. As reported by 9to5Google, when you disable the ad blocker, the video will play in its entirety as it should. If you enable the ad blocker, the video will fast forward to the end screen.

Apart from this, users on Reddit also mentioned that this problem occurs when you try to play the video again. If you try to jump to a certain part of the video, the video will buffer infinitely. Other users mentioned that videos play without sound. If you fiddle with the volume control, the sound comes back on for a second and then turns off again. At this point, it seems YouTube is willing to try every trick in the book to get users to stop using ad blockers. Advertisements are one of the biggest sources of revenue for the platform apart from the Premium subscription. But die-hard users don't back down either. They're finding new and creative ways to bypass ads, whether it's new add-ons or YouTube clients like NewPipe.
