YouTube is definitely the biggest video sharing site, home to many content creators. And with so many creators uploading millions of videos every day, it stands to reason that some of them might be using AI-generated content in 2023. However, the YouTube team recently made a serious decision about how AI-generated videos will be on the platform.

YouTube's NEW rules for AI-generated content

As announced in its latest blog post, the company will be making changes to the rules for publishing content on YouTube. Starting soon, YouTube creators will have to disclose whether or not their content is AI-generated. The company will then use this information to create and display a label to users. So now if a user watches a video with AI parts, the label will read that the video contains "altered or synthetic content". A similar message will also appear in YouTube Shorts content.

The company further proclaims that "sensitive topics" such as politics, health, elections and more will display this label more prominently.

However, if the creator does not leave the disclosure, the videos can even be flagged as AI-generated if detected by the tools. YouTube will deploy AI technology for better content moderation, and it has said newer threats will also be dealt with using generative AI. So essentially the company is using AI to capture AI!
