On Google Assistant, it’s just as simple. Say “Hey Google, what’s this song?” and then hum the tune. This feature is currently available in English on iOS, and in more than 20 languages on Android. After you’re finished humming, our machine learning algorithm helps identify potential song matches.

Tap on the mic icon and say “what’s this song?” or click the “Search a song” button. Then start humming for 10 to 15 seconds. On Google Assistant, say, “Hey Google, what’s this song?” and then hum the tune. The feature will show users a list of the most likely songs based on the melody.

To get started using Google’s new feature, grab your phone and open the latest version of the Google app or Google Search widget. Then, tap the Microphone icon and say “what’s this song?” You can also tap the Search a song button. Finally, start humming, singing or whistling the tune to get your results.

Your Alexa-enabled smart speaker can identify songs, but you’ll need to say a specific phrase: “Alexa, what song is this?” If you’re listening to music through Amazon Music, you can also turn on the Song ID feature, which will cause Alexa to announce the name of each song before it starts playing.

You can ask Amazon Alexa to play a specific song, playlist, artist, or genre as your alarm. A music alarm also doesn’t have to be configured every night. If you wake up at the same time, you can ask Alexa to wake you up “every day” at a certain time.

There is no Shazam skill available on your Echo devices, so you can’t simply ask your Echo device to listen out and identify a playing song. This is actually by design – Amazon don’t really want third party skill developers to be able to listen in on everything around an Echo device for obvious privacy reasons.

Here are some commands to order up music by song title, album title, or artist name:

• “Alexa, play the song [title].”
• “Alexa, play the song [title] by [artist].”
• “Alexa, play the album [title].”
• “Alexa, play music by [artist].”
• “Alexa, play popular songs by [artist].”
• “Alexa, play the latest [artist] album.”

It also includes single-player and multiplayer modes so you can test your knowledge or challenge your friends and family head to head. The Song Quiz game is free to play on Alexa.

What Is the “Queue” Tab in the Alexa App?

1. The Player tab in the bottom right-hand corner of the Alexa app is a recent addition—there, you can see what media your Echo is currently playing.
2. Then tap on the “Queue” tab up near the top of the screen.

Let’s start with the Alexa app itself (iOS, Android). Through the app, you can tune up music or audiobooks on any of your online Echo devices. At the Music screen, tap the drop-down arrow and select the Echo device on which you want to play music or other audio content. Tap Done.
