How to use a manual wheelchair restraint:

1. Place the wheelchair in the middle of the anchor points.
2. Attach all four tie-downs to the anchor points.
3. Hook the manual straps onto the body of the wheelchair.
4. Pull the manual straps tight or use the ratchet to take up the slack.

A lap belt can also be viewed as a subcategory of physical restraints when the user is unable to readily undo the latch.

If your vehicle is equipped with a lap belt and a separate shoulder belt, you are required to use both.
