Athena

Myth: Owls are bad luck/Owls are omens of death. Reality: Owls are no more bad luck than black cats, broken mirrors, or spilled salt. In many cultures, owls are seen as bad luck or omens of death and are feared, avoided or killed because of it.

Athena is the ancient Greek goddess of wisdom, craft, and strategic war. She is also the patron goddess of the city of Athens and the protector of all heroes. She is the daughter and first-born child of Zeus. Athena is also the favorite child of Zeus, being allowed to carry his Aegis, or armor, into battle.

It is a well-known legend that Hephaestus, the crippled god, wasn’t Zeus’s son. Even Athena wasn’t born of Zeus alone but came from Methis’ womb before she sprang out of her father’s head. No, Hera once – just once – committed adultery, because she was mad at Zeus that always cheated on her.

I have only found four gods that remain faithful: Hera, Amphitrite, Eros and Psyche (while gods that didn’t marry can’t exactly cheat)….Examples of infidelity are:

• Zeus and Io.
• Poseidon and Aphrodite.
• Hephaestus and Aglaea.
• Hades and Minthe.
• Persephone and Adonis.
